3D Printer

EP-M150Pro Metal

If you take the standard EP-M150 Metal and add a more powerful laser, increase the speed, make the build volume larger, and add more accuracy to the machine, you’re left with an EP-M150Pro. That’s exactly what the team at EP did to put together this high-caliber EP-M150Pro.

The EP-M150Pro offers the same durability and reliability that you can find in other EP products, but it has power and accuracy that you might not expect. While the build volume is still on the smaller side, the added height will allow you to make a wider range of products.

Your engineering team might buy the EP-M150Pro if you’re looking to make detailed, smaller parts out of pure metal. With this metal 3D printer, your final parts can be close to 100% metal by volume.

In the big scheme of things, the EP-M150Pro is one of the more affordable 3D printers, based on all the functionality you get from this machine.

Features and Benefits

Industry-Preferred Functionality and Reliability

Anyone who knows about industrial 3D printers can likely speak to the pedigree of EP. EP is a company that makes resin, SLS, and metal 3D printers that are built to survive in industrial applications just like yours. This could be anything from a medical company to a chemical facility or automotive R&D department. When you need a printer that’s always ready to print, you need the EP-M150Pro.

Speed that Matters

The EP-M150Pro has added functionality that makes this machine faster than its predecessor. With a dual laser setup and the ability for thicker layers, you can have parts created in less than half the time it would take a standard metal 3D printer.

  • Print speed up to 55 cm³/h. This is almost a pound of precisely-printed stainless steel each hour, which is rare to find in a metal 3D printer.
  • Thicker layers. Since the EP-M150Pro can achieve thicker layers, you can have parts finished even faster while keeping the precision you expect.
  • Faster prototypes. A faster machine can create prototypes faster, speeding up the full production process of a new or developing part.

Incredibly Easy to Use

Anyone who uses the EP-M150Pro can attest to how easy this printer is to use. When our team uses it, it’s clear that this 3D printer is ideal for anyone who doesn’t have previous 3D printing experience.

  • One-touch start. You can start printing a new part with just a single touch, streamlining your startup efforts.
  • Easy-to-use touchscreen. The touchscreen on the EP-M150Pro will walk you through every prompt and decision, making it simple to operate the machine.
  • Perfect for beginners. A beginner can use the EP-M150Pro with no issues, and you’ll be able to create high-quality metal 3D-printed parts without previous experience.

Powerful Dual Laser

A dual-laser setup allows a 3D printer to create supports and parts even faster. It works similarly to a dual-nozzle setup in a typical FDM printer that you might have at home. Both lasers work in tandem to tackle different parts of the print — like writing with both hands at once.

  • Pair of 500W lasers. A 500W laser results in very fast printing speeds, thicker possible layers, and more precision in your parts.
  • Dual lasers allow for faster printing. Since the EP-M150Pro has two 500W lasers, you get twice the benefit and nearly twice the overall speed.
  • Work with more materials. With a more powerful laser, the EP-M150Pro can work with a wider range of materials, like Aluminum Alloy and Cobalt Chrome.

More About This Technology

Selective laser melting (SLM) metal 3D printing is the newest form of 3D printing that is reserved almost exclusively for industrial applications. These printers are more expensive to purchase and have higher operating costs, but they create parts made out of pure metal. A bed of metal powder sits directly under a high-powered laser on an XY (2-axis) gantry.

When the laser shines on the powdered metal, the metal fuses together and becomes molten, then solid. The head of an SLM 3D printer will move around the bed of metal powder, fusing together your part one layer at a time. The bed then moves down a little, a new layer of metal powder is applied, and the laser continues working on the next layer. This continues until your part is finished.

After the part is fused together, it goes into an oven to cure and get rid of any additives in the metal powder. After some time, you’re left with a part made completely out of metal.

SLM Metal 3D printers rival traditional CNC machining, and the end result can be seemingly identical. However, it’s much faster, typically more affordable, and can run 24/7 with very little supervision, unlike a machine shop.

You can find parts made from SLM Metal 3D printers in almost any industry. Wherever CNC machining is used, SLM Metal printing can be the substitute. Examples include the aerospace, automotive, medical, industrial, and defense industries.
